چکیده

Formal veriication of safety and timing properties of engineering systems is only meaningful if based on models which are systematically derived. In this paper we report on our experience using switched bond graphs for the modelling of hardware components in hybrid systems. We present the basic ideas underlying bond graphs in general and switched bond graphs in particular. Switched bond graphs are tailored for the modelling of physical systems undergoing abrupt structural changes. Such abrupt changes appear frequently in plants closed by discrete controllers. We illustrate our approach by means of an aircraft landing gear system and prove safety and timeliness properties using the proof system of extended duration calculus.

On the Stability of a Class of Switched Bond Graphs

This paper deals with the stability analysis of a class of switched bond graphs where all the storage components remain unchanged and in integral causality under mode switching. These properties assure the existence of a unique energy function common to all the switching modes, and the non occurrence of state jumps or discontinuities in the switched system trajectories. A result on stability of...

Icbgm 2001 International Conference on Bond Graph Modeling and Simulation Quantized Bond Graphs: an Approach for Discrete Event Simulation of Physical Systems

This paper introduces a new class of Bond Graph models, called Quantized Bond Graphs (QBG), which can be “exactly” simulated by a Discrete Event System Specification or DEVS structure (Zeigler; 1976, 2000). Standard Bond Graph representing Physical Systems can be approximated by QBG for the purpose of simulation. It is shown that derivative causalities dissapear from this kind of models, turnin...

HyBrSim – A Modeling and Simulation Environment for Hybrid Bond Graphs

Bond graphs are a powerful formalism to model continuous dynamics of physical systems. Hybrid bond graphs introduce an ideal switching element, the controlled junction, to approximate continuous behavior that is too complex for numerical analysis (e.g., because of nonlinearities or steep gradients). HyBrSim is a tool for hybrid bond graph modeling and simulation implemented in Java and document...

Mode Initialization when Simulating Switched Bond Graphs, version II

When simulating hybrid systems using switched bond graphs, the initialization of new modes is made by using a generalization of the principle of momentum conservation. Here it is shown how to use causality propagation to get an efficient initialization algorithm. By looking at causal paths, set of variables that have to be initialized simultaneously are found. Furthermore, it is shown how impul...

Model Synthesis for Design of Switched Systems Using a Variable Structure System Formulation

A Variable Structure System (VSS) formulation and bond graph approach are used to develop a novel scheme for synthesizing reduced order models of switched systems. Switches are physical mechanisms that discontinuously redirect power, and switched systems employ switches for more efficient power conversion and/or to incorporate a control structure. A variety of power converters including electro...
